Instead of asking friends and family for gifts on your birthday, set up a Birthday Fundraiser and ask them to make a contribution. Here are a few easy ways to help you set it up.
Tips for a Successful Birthday Fundraiser
BE CREATIVE

Organize some games or competitions where friends have to make a donation to join in.

Create a goal amount to match your age. Turning 30? Set out to raise $3,000 for a cause you care about! Ask for a $30 donation.
SHARE YOUR STORY

Leverage social media to share your story.

Facebook Birthday Fundraisers are an easy way to let everyone know it's your birthday - and Facebook delivers the donations right to us.
EMAIL CONTACTS

Write a short but compelling email to all your contacts encouraging them to donate to FBC on your behalf.

Create your own fundraising page with our Sight Saver portal and include the link to donate. Our portal even allows you to send emails directly from there.
JUST ASK

Most friends and family are happy to support a cause you are passionate about - you just need to ASK!

There is never any harm in asking. Let them know of your Birthday Goal and suggest an amount to contribute to help you reach it. Include the donate link or instructions and be sure to THANK them for their gift.

All of the research and educational initiatives we fund supports our goals of understanding why vision loss occurs, how it can be slowed or stopped, and how sight can be restored.

Ask for donations specific to your birth DATE. ie: birthday on February 15th - donate $15 or better yet, why not $215.

Suggest your life experience AGE as the requested donation to your birthday campaign.

Ask people to forgo their daily "fancy coffee" and instead donate $5 to your birthday campaign.

Create a virtual game night - $20 a person to play with the birthday guest! Send the link to everyone who donates.

SHARE your story and WHY you are connected to the cause. Send personal emails, share on social media and spread the word.
